This short course introduces students to the foundations of Aromatherapy.
We are inviting community students to join our 6-month Certificate of Relaxation Massage students for one afternoon per week over 8 weeks to study the Foundations of Aromatherapy (AT101). On this course you will learn about a range of essential and carrier oils, as well as cover basic chemistry, safety, toxicity and methods of extraction. You will gain knowledge in the safe usage of essential oils for blending and application for the improvement of wellbeing, as well as briefly cover the history and philosophyof this ancient practice.
Who is this course for?
This short course is beneficial to those wanting to gain a foundation in Aromatherapy, whether for home practice or for upskilling as a Bodywork practitioner.
What the Course Covers:
- A range of essential oils, carriers will be studied including basic chemistry, safety, toxicity and methods of extraction.
- A variety of blending suggestions for use within a relaxation massage practice.
- First aid, common ailments, integumentary system, care and applications.
- History of aromatherapy.
- Holistic aromatherapy philosophies.
- Self-observation of essential oils effects.

Gain the confidence to work safely with essential and carrier oils for application in relaxation massage. Take your interest in Aromatherapy to the next level or if you are an existing bodywork practitioner add a new dimension to your skill set.
Should you wish, you will be allowed to complete the same assessments taken by the 6-month Certificate of Massage students. If you pass the assessments and you maintain a good attendance record you will be able to cross credit this paper should you wish to enrol onto the 6-month Certificate of Relaxation Massage, full time in 2017/18. You will be given limited access to Moodle so that you can refer to all the reading material talked about in class
